The week of June 20th, 2022

This edition of the Notebook is short and sent with the thought that, if you haven't already, you might consider watching proceedings of the January 6th committee in Congress. According to reports, the audience is relatively small.
As I've watched, I have felt strongly that these regular Americans, who could be any of us, deserve and need the support of all of us, their fellow citizens. Their bravery is miraculous and what they have endured is heartbreaking.
Yesterday, I cried throughout the testimony of Shaye Moss, who formerly worked as an elections official in Fulton County, Georgia. I cried because her story turns the American promise inside out, and my strong instinct is that we all need to bear witness to this, no matter our party.

I was also so deeply moved by Rusty Bowers, speaker of Arizona's House of Representatives when he talked about being asked to break his oath of office, saying, "It is a tenet of my faith that the Constitution is divinely inspired."

After watching, I felt that I would have truly regretted not giving my time and attention to these courageous Americans. I thought you might feel the same way.
Sincerely,
Christy
